The steady growth in global energy consumption and the limited availability of fossil fuels have created a need for renewable energy sources. Concerns about CO2 emissions and fuel prices have also led to advancements in battery technology for electric cars. This literature review focuses on recent scientific advances in battery packs, with special attention to lithium-based technologies, aqueous rechargeable batteries, and flexible batteries.
The steady growth in global energy consumption, together with a growing awareness of the limited availability of fossil fuels, has prompted an urgent need to employ renewable energy sources. Concurrently, concern about CO2 emissions and expected hikes in fuel prices have driven technical attempts to make hybrid and electric cars accessible to the general public. In this instance, energy storage is a crucial problem that must be handled, and batteries are surely a critical component. This literature review highlights the most recent and major scientific advances in the area of battery packs, the performance of which is governed by their underlying chemistry. Because of their vital current relevance and future promise, improvements in lithium-based technologies, aqueous rechargeable batteries (ARBs), and flexible battery get special attention. An ideal battery would have both strong electrochemical performance and good mechanical deformability. As a consequence, battery main components, chemical processes, device designs, and practical implications are all important considerations. In this part, we will go through the fundamentals of batteries as well as contemporary improvements in term of these important features in a methodical and com-plete way. We will first look at the requirements for battery constituent components such as the conductive polymer, electrolyte, and separators.
