Summary: With the rapid development of global electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and aerospace, the prediction of temperature in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) has become crucial for preventing fire accidents. The current main method is to use surface temperature sensors, but it is not practical to install sensors at each cell due to cost, space, and weight issues. Therefore, the development of a new method based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) has become an urgent problem to be solved. This review summarizes the main methods of using EIS to predict the temperature of LIBs in recent years and discusses the advantages, disadvantages, and future development direction of different methods.

Summary: This paper designs and analyzes the coupling system of liquid-cooled battery thermal management system (BTMS) and heat pump air conditioning system (HPACS) for battery electric vehicles (BEV). An automatic calibration model of the liquid-cooled BTMS based HPACS is established using support vector regression (SVR) to predict cooling capacity and system coefficient of performance, with particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm introduced to optimize the hyper parameters. The proposed PSO-SVR model shows improvement in correlation coefficient and reduction in mean squared error compared to the SVR model, indicating its potential as a new method to fit the complex nonlinear relationships among system COP, cooling capacity, and other influencing factors.

Summary: Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are a promising energy source for electric vehicle (EV) applications due to their high power, high specific energy, no memory effect, and excellent durability. A suitable thermal management system (TMS) is necessary to ensure the performance, efficiency, capacity, safety, and lifetime of these batteries. Different passive cooling systems, including natural convection, aluminum (Al) mesh, copper (Cu) mesh, phase change material (PCM), and PCM-graphite, were studied for their thermal performance on the LTO Li-ion battery cell/module. The experiments and simulations showed that these cooling systems effectively reduced the temperature of the battery cells, with PCM-graphite providing the highest cooling efficiency.

Summary: The study investigates a lithium-ion battery heat management system using a heat pipe, and experimentally explores its performance. The experimental results show that while increasing ambient temperature leads to a rise in battery surface temperature, the decrease in thermal resistance of the heat pipe moderates this effect and controls the battery surface temperature with forced convection, distributing temperature uniformly. The use of the heat pipe helps maintain more stable temperature conditions with lower fluctuations in consecutive battery cycles.
