New Alphaproteobacteria Thrive in the Depths of the Ocean with Oxygen Gradient

Miguel Angel Cevallos et al.

Summary: In this study, we surveyed the Alphaproteobacteria class, which consists of diverse bacteria that have been classified into several orders since 2007. However, the classification of many marine metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs) within the Alphaproteobacteria is uncertain. We used phylogenomics and functional profiling methods to analyze the classification of common Alphaproteobacteria lineages in marine environments. Our study also provides new insights into the origin of mitochondria.

Effects of Root Zone Aeration on Soil Microbes Species in a Peach Tree Rhizosphere and Root Growth

Maoxiang Sun et al.

Summary: The aeration in the root zone can change the microbial community structure in the soil, increase the abundance of nitrogen-fixing and potassium-solubilizing microorganisms, and enhance the potassium-to-nitrogen ratio in plants, which is beneficial to peach fruit quality.

Recent development and new insight of diversification and symbiosis specificity of legume rhizobia: mechanism and application

W. F. Chen et al.

Summary: Symbiotic rhizobia convert dinitrogen gas into ammonia for the host plant. Specificity exists between rhizobia and leguminous species. Nodulation specificity and efficiency are mainly determined by soil conditions and host plants.

Legume-rhizobium specificity effect on nodulation, biomass production and partitioning of faba bean (Vicia faba L.)

Bayou Bunkura Allito et al.

Summary: The study showed that inoculation with rhizobium can significantly increase nodulation and biomass production of faba bean in both greenhouse and field conditions. The interaction between location, strain, and variety has significant effects on nodulation, dry matter production, and partitioning.
