The Protective Effects of Lactoferrin on Aflatoxin M1-Induced Compromised Intestinal Integrity

Ya-Nan Gao et al.

Summary: The study found that lactoferrin (LF) can reduce the increased intestinal permeability caused by aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) and repair the damaged intestinal barrier. In addition, the research revealed that LF acts through regulating multiple pathways related to intestinal cell survival and intestinal integrity. These findings suggest that LF may be a potential option for treating compromised intestinal barrier.

Comparative Cytotoxic Effects and Possible Mechanisms of Deoxynivalenol, Zearalenone and T-2 Toxin Exposure to Porcine Leydig Cells In Vitro

Lingwei Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigates the toxic effects and underlying mechanisms of mycotoxins such as zearalenone, deoxynivalenol, and T-2 toxin. The results indicate that these toxins cause reproductive toxicity by inhibiting steroidogenesis and cell proliferation, leading to cellular apoptosis.

Effect of Nano-Titanium Dioxide on Blood-Testis Barrier and MAPK Signaling Pathway in Male Mice

Tianjiao Lu et al.

Summary: Nano-sized titanium dioxide has been found to have adverse effects on the male reproductive system, including inducing damage to the blood-testis barrier structure, activating MAPK signaling pathways, decreasing testosterone and estradiol levels, and increasing sperm malformation rates in mice.

A Two-Year Occurrence of Fusarium T-2 and HT-2 Toxin in Croatian Cereals Relative of the Regional Weather

Maja Kis et al.

Summary: By sampling unprocessed cereals from different fields in three regions of Croatia, the study revealed that oats were the most contaminated cereal with T-2/HT-2 toxins, while maize had the lowest contamination level. The concentrations of these mycotoxins in two maize samples exceeded the indicative level recommended by the European Commission, indicating the need for further investigation into the conditions under which these poorly studied toxins are produced.

Dietary Conjugated Linoleic Acid Modulates the Hepatic Circadian Clock Program via PPARα/REV-ERBα-Mediated Chromatin Modification in Mice

Hao-Yu Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interplays between dietary conjugated linoleic acid (CLA)-induced hepatic steatosis and circadian clock regulation, and found that PPAR alpha drives REV-ERB alpha expression by binding to key genes of the circadian clock. The results provide insights into the peripheral clock feedback loop and offer guidance for optimizing nutrients in circadian physiology.

Effect of lactoferrin on murine sperm apoptosis induced by intraperitoneal injection of lipopolysaccharide

Takahiro Aya et al.

Summary: Genital bacterial infection is a major cause of infertility, with bacteria often found in seminal fluid. Sperm express Toll-like receptors on their surface, which can induce sperm apoptosis upon bacterial recognition. However, treating semen with lactoferrin may reduce apoptosis of sperm induced by bacterial lipopolysaccharide.
