Comparative plastid genome analyses of Rosa: Insights into the phylogeny and gene divergence

Cheng Zhang et al.

Summary: The genus Rosa consists of more than 150 species with economic and ecological values. This study reported complete plastomes of 31 Rosa species and conducted a comparative analysis to understand the evolution and divergence of plastome genes in this genus. The study identified nucleotide polymorphism hotspots and revealed the phylogenetic relationships within Rosa. The findings also highlighted the rapid diversification within the Rosa subgenus and identified section-specific RNA editing sites.
