Summary: In this study, 3D printing concrete was used as a permanent formwork to speed up the construction of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures. The influence of the roughness of the printing formwork and the age difference between the formwork and post-cast concrete on the bonding properties of the interface were investigated. The results showed that the bonding interface had the best tensile and shear properties when the layer height of the printing formwork was 20 mm.

Effect of processing on the air void system of 3D printed concrete

Arnesh Das et al.

Summary: The study found that the long-term performance of 3D printed concrete structures is affected by frost damage, with processing conditions such as pumping and extrusion significantly changing the void structure. Acceleration or higher setting rates can stabilize the void structure and provide better protection from frost damage. After extrusion, cast and printed samples have similar void systems and distribution, indicating that the presence of interfaces in printed samples does not have a clear impact.

Geometric quality assurance for 3D concrete printing and hybrid construction manufacturing using a standardised test part for benchmarking capability

Richard Buswell et al.

Summary: The importance of quality control and assurance in 3D Concrete Printing is widely recognized, but there is a lack of systematic methods for evaluating, diagnosing, improving, monitoring, and comparing system performance within the field. This work draws inspiration from the test geometry approach in Additive Manufacturing to establish a reproducible benchmark for evaluating and assuring part geometric quality of 3DCP systems, providing useful information for process comparison and performance improvement. The test part and measurement approach offered by this work provide a means for cross-platform benchmarking of 3DCP system performance within the 3DCP community.
