Effect of Ag loading on praseodymium doped ceria catalyst for soot oxidation activity

Pandurangappa Govardhan et al.

Summary: In this study, silver-loaded praseodymium doped ceria catalyst was synthesized using microwave-assisted co-precipitation and wetness impregnation, showing high activity and surface reducibility for oxidation reactions. The catalyst exhibited a high porosity, surface area, and pore diameter, with Ag loading improving the surface reducibility of cerium ions and 5 wt% being the optimal loading amount.

Active site structure and methane oxidation reactivity of bimetallic Pd and Pt nanoparticles

Yifei Yang et al.

Summary: Studies on kinetic, oxygen uptake, microscopic, and spectroscopic aspects of PdPt bimetallic catalysts reveal the structural dynamics and methane oxidation rates. Reductive treatments result in uniform distribution of Pd0Pt0 nanoparticles, while oxidative treatments lead to formation of PdO shell with Pd2+-O2- site pairs effective for C-H activation in methane.

Exploring the effect of morphology and surface properties of nanoshaped Pd/CeO2 catalysts on CO2 hydrogenation to methanol

Rohini Khobragade et al.

Summary: The study synthesized Pd/CeO2 catalysts with different ceria morphologies and studied their catalytic characteristics and reaction mechanism. Pd functionalized ceria with polyhedral morphology showed the highest specific surface area, oxygen vacancy formation, surface oxygen mobility, and acidic-basic sites, leading to improved catalytic activity and selectivity. XRD and Raman spectroscopy results revealed strong metal-support interactions for the most active catalyst, which promoted CO2 activation and methanol synthesis.

Methane oxidation activity and nanoscale characterization of Pd/CeO2 catalysts prepared by dry milling Pd acetate and ceria

Maila Danielis et al.

Summary: The milling of Palladium acetate and CeO2 under dry conditions results in robust and environmentally friendly catalysts with excellent methane oxidation activity. The characterization techniques used in this study identified the presence of Pd-0/Pd2+ species with different degrees of interaction with ceria (Ce3+/Ce4+), which are believed to be responsible for the enhanced catalytic activity. This study provides insight into the mechanistic understanding of the catalytic performance of Pd/CeO2 catalysts prepared by dry milling.

Elucidation of Active Sites for CH4 Catalytic Oxidation over Pd/CeO2 Via Tailoring Metal-Support Interactions

Shiyuan Chen et al.

Summary: The structure of PdOx nanoparticles loaded on CeO2 nanocrystals of different shapes was systematically studied using Cs-corrected HRTEM/STEM, XPS, and Raman spectroscopy. The active sites for methane catalytic oxidation were found to be morphology-dependent on the CeO2 supports, with Pd2+ species identified as the active centers. Additionally, the chemical states of Pd can be tuned through interactions with CeO2 in oxidizing/reducing atmospheres.

Highly Active PdO/Mn3O4/CeO2 Nanocomposites Supported on One Dimensional Halloysite Nanotubes for Photoassisted Thermal Catalytic Methane Combustion

Xilan Feng et al.

Summary: By triggering the aqueous auto-redox reactions between reductive Ce(OH)(3) and oxidative MnO4-/Pd2+ ions, PdO/Mn3O4/CeO2 (PMC) nanocomposites were formed, showing strong synergistic effects. The HPMC nanocomposites exhibited excellent performance in photoassisted thermal catalytic CH4 combustion, with a reduced light-off temperature of 180 degrees C under visible light irradiation. The catalytic reaction process followed the classic MVK mechanism, with O-2 adsorption/activation into active oxygen species (O*) being the rate-determining step for CH4 conversion.

Surface Density Dependent Catalytic Activity of Single Palladium Atoms Supported on Ceria**

Yongseon Kim et al.

Summary: The specific activity of ceria-supported single Pd atoms linearly increases with metal atom density, due to the cumulative enhancement of CeO2 reducibility. Long-range electrostatic footprints around each Pd site overlap with each other as surface Pd density increases, resulting in an observed deviation from constant specific activity.
