Do renewable energy and national patents impact the environmental sustainability of Tunisia?

Summary: The study analyzed the linkage between CO2 emissions, renewable energy consumption, foreign direct investment, national patents, exports, imports, and GDP in Tunisia from 1980 to 2017. Findings from the elasticity long-run test showed that RE consumption, exports, and GDP have a positive impact on CO2 emissions, while FDI has a negative impact. Additionally, the study suggests that Tunisia should encourage FDI as it seems to play a role in mitigating CO2 emissions.
