Pesticide residues in vegetables produced in rural south-western Uganda

Hannington Ngabirano et al.

Summary: The study revealed that pesticide residues in vegetables produced in rural South-western Uganda exceeded Maximum Residue Limits in a significant percentage of samples, posing potential risks to food quality and human health. Therefore, regulatory measures and monitoring of pesticide residues in vegetables from this region are essential to prevent adverse effects on human health.

Effects of different drying methods on phenolic components and in vitro hypoglycemic activities of pulp extracts from two Chinese bayberry rubra Sieb. et cultivars

Zhe Liu et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of hot-air drying and freeze drying on the phenolic profiles, antioxidant, and hypoglycemic activities of Chinese bayberry pulp extracts. The results showed that freeze-dried samples had higher phenolic contents and exhibited stronger antioxidant and hypoglycemic activities compared to hot-air dried samples. Freeze-dried 'DK' bayberry showed similar antioxidant activities and α-glucosidase inhibitory activity but higher β-glucosidase inhibition than freeze-dried 'BQ' bayberry. Freeze drying was found to be more suitable for preserving the phenolic components in Chinese bayberry pulp extract.

Dissipation, Processing Factors and Dietary Risk Assessment for Flupyradifurone Residues in Ginseng

Nan Fang et al.

Summary: The massive use of pesticides poses significant risks to food and environmental safety. This study developed a reliable analytical method and conducted monitoring studies to assess these risks. The findings indicate that the environmental risk of FPF to soil organisms is acceptable and the application of FPF to ginseng at the recommended dose does not pose a significant risk to consumers.
