Maternal Overnutrition During Gestation in Sheep Alters Autophagy Associated Pathways in Offspring Heart

Yang Liu et al.

Summary: Overfeeding during gestation can have long-lasting effects on offspring autophagy signaling, especially in later developmental stages and female offspring. Targeting autophagy pathways may be a strategy to mitigate the adverse effects in offspring of over-fed ewes.

Response of the thyroid axis and appetite-regulating peptides to fasting and overfeeding in goldfish (Carassius auratus)

Cole K. Deal et al.

Summary: Research on the effects of nutritional status on the thyroid axis and appetite regulators in goldfish revealed that overfeeding may activate the thyroid axis, while fasting inhibits thyroid hormone degradation pathways. However, neither had an impact on circulating levels of thyroid hormone. Time-dependent changes were observed in central appetite-regulating peptides, with decreased expression of the appetite-inhibiting peptide POMC over the study period.
