Safety of PRRSV-2 MLV vaccines administrated via the intramuscular or intradermal route and evaluation of PRRSV transmission upon needle-free and needle delivery

Summary: Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the efficacy of two modified live PRRSV vaccines administered through different routes and the potential of virus transmission using needle-free devices. The results showed that pigs vaccinated intradermally had lower virus distribution and no transmission to sentinel pigs, while intramuscularly vaccinated pigs had higher viremia levels and risk of transmission.
