Information perception in modern poultry farming: A review

Dihua Wu et al.

Summary: Poultry farming is evolving towards scale, intelligence, and unmanned operations, with information perception playing a vital role in improving efficiency, labor liberation, and animal welfare. Research on information perception technology in poultry farming has been conducted globally, covering topics such as individual poultry target perception, behavior recognition, health and environmental monitoring, and breeding-related robots. However, challenges still remain in accurately perceiving individual information in complex environments, monitoring poultry house environments at multiple scales, intelligent disease diagnosis, robot function expansion, and multi-robot coordination. Future research should focus on addressing these challenges to achieve accurate, efficient, and intelligent information perception in unmanned poultry farming systems.
