Online survey of owners' experiences of medicating their cats at home

Samantha Taylor et al.

Summary: This study conducted an online survey to understand the experiences of cat owners in medicating their cats. The results showed that many cat owners lack guidance and advice on how to administer medication to their cats. The survey also revealed the challenges and difficulties faced during the medicating process, such as potential human injury and damage to the owner-cat relationship. Therefore, pharmaceutical companies and veterinary clinics should provide a variety of formulations and relevant information to improve compliance.

Prevalence of iatrogenic heart murmurs in a population of apparently healthy cats

K. L. Howell et al.

Summary: The study aimed to determine the prevalence of iatrogenic heart murmurs in apparently healthy cats and investigate potential predisposing factors. The results revealed that iatrogenic murmurs were common in cats, with a higher prevalence observed in older cats with lower body condition scores.

Cardiovascular Images Congenital supravalvular aortic stenosis in a kitten

V. Szatmari

Summary: A 3-month-old Norwegian forest cat with a cardiac murmur was evaluated. Initial examination showed mitral valve regurgitation and left ventricular outflow tract obstruction with left ventricular hypertrophy. Recheck examination revealed unchanged murmur characteristics and the development of severe aortic stenosis.

Anterior mitral valve leaflet length in cats with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

J. Seo et al.

Summary: This study found that cats with elongated anterior mitral valve leaflet (AMVL) and increased left ventricular wall thickness at baseline were more likely to develop hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) phenotype during follow-up. Further research on the clinical relevance of AMVL in feline HCM natural history is needed.
