Micro-computed tomography analysis of the relationship between root canal number and root concavity in maxillary first and second molars in a Japanese population

Akiko Kato et al.

Summary: This study investigated root canal configurations in maxillary first and second molars from a Japanese population, finding that approximately 51% and 35% of the mesiobuccal roots in three-rooted maxillary first and second molars, respectively, had two or more root canals. The study also observed a significant relationship between the number of root canals and the depth of root concavity in the mesiobuccal root of the maxillary first molars.

Relationship between crown and root canal anatomy of four-rooted maxillary molar teeth

Hakan Aydin

Summary: This study found a low prevalence of four-rooted teeth in maxillary molars, with the double palatal root type being the most common. A higher proportion of four-rooted teeth were observed in men, and a high percentage of root fusion was seen in these teeth.

Three-dimensional semi-automated volumetric assessment of the pulp space of teeth following regenerative dental procedures

Heeresh Shetty et al.

Summary: This study compared the accuracy of two artificial intelligence-based medical imaging programs, OsiriX MD and 3D Slicer, in estimating the volume of pulp space following regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs). The results showed a significant decrease in pulp space volume measured by both programs, with no significant difference in accuracy between them. 3D Slicer, an open-source software program, was found to be as accurate as the commercially available OsiriX MD in volumetric assessment of post-REP pulp space.

Prevalence of dental caries in the first permanent molar and associated risk factors among sixth-grade students in Sao Tome Island

Lin Que et al.

Summary: This study revealed a high prevalence of dental caries in the first permanent molar among sixth-grade students in Sao Tome Island, with significant associations found with the frequency of candy/chocolate consumption and self-assessment of dental health. The rates of filling and Pit and Fissure Sealant (PFS) teeth were lower than the average of other African countries. Oral health education and promotion are crucial in preventing dental caries in this population.

C-Shaped Canal in Second Molar of Mandible among Cases of Cone Beam Computed Tomography in Tertiary Care Centres: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study

Neera Joshi et al.

Summary: The prevalence of C-shaped canals in mandibular second molars is 12.6% according to this study. Preoperative radiographic evaluation is essential for diagnosing C-shaped configuration prior to root canal treatment.
