GPU-Accelerated Incremental Euclidean Distance Transform for Online Motion Planning of Mobile Robots

Yizhou Chen et al.

Summary: This letter presents a volumetric mapping system that calculates Occupancy Grid Maps (OGMs) and Euclidean Distance Transforms (EDTs) with parallel computing. Unlike other mapping systems for high-precision structural reconstruction, this system incrementally constructs global EDT and outputs local distance information for robot motion planning. It receives various sensor inputs and constructs OGM without down-sampling using GPU programming techniques. Experiments show that this proposed approach outperforms existing robot mapping systems and is suitable for mapping unexplored areas. It achieves real-time performance with limited computational resources in aerial and ground vehicles.

Bubble Planner: Planning High-speed Smooth Quadrotor Trajectories using Receding Corridors

Yunfan Ren et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a motion planning algorithm based on the corridor-constrained minimum control effort trajectory optimization framework for high-speed quadrotor flights. Novel designs using overlapping spheres and a Receding Horizon Corridors strategy are proposed to enlarge the corridor spaces and enable high-speed maneuverability. The algorithm is benchmarked against other planning methods and evaluated on an autonomous LiDAR-navigated quadrotor UAV, achieving flight speeds over 13.7m/s without prior mapping or external localization.

Location-Based Hybrid Precoding Schemes and QoS-Aware Power Allocation for Radar-Aided UAV-UGV Cooperative Systems

Xiangqian Xu et al.

Summary: This study investigates radar-aided hybrid precoding schemes in UAV-UGV cooperative systems. By integrating millimeter wave communication with UAV-UGV cooperative systems, an effective scheme is proposed to jointly design hybrid precoding and power allocation using location information, and the Cramer-Rao lower bound for radar parameter estimation is derived. To ensure the quality-of-service of UGVs, a QoS-aware power allocation scheme based on difference-of-two-convex-function programming is proposed. Finally, a heuristic hybrid precoding design algorithm is proposed to maximize the sum-rate of the cooperative systems based on antenna grouping and radar parameter acquisition.

EGO-Planner: An ESDF-Free Gradient-Based Local Planner for Quadrotors

Xin Zhou et al.

Summary: A gradient-based planning framework without ESDF is proposed, which reduces computation time significantly by comparing the colliding trajectory with a collision-free guiding path to store necessary obstacle information. Additionally, an anisotropic curve fitting algorithm is introduced to adjust higher order derivatives of the trajectory while maintaining the original shape.
