Joint Beamforming Design for Secure RIS-Assisted IoT Networks

Hehao Niu et al.

Summary: This article focuses on the study of secure communication in an IoT network. It introduces the use of active refracting RIS-based transmitter and passive reflective RIS to enhance secrecy performance in the presence of multiple eavesdroppers. The goal is to maximize the weighted sum secrecy rate through joint optimization of power allocation, transmit beamforming, and phase shifts. The proposed linearization and alternating optimization schemes provide effective solutions to the nonconvex optimization problem. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design.

Refracting RIS-Aided Hybrid Satellite-Terrestrial Relay Networks: Joint Beamforming Design and Optimization

Zhi Lin et al.

Summary: This article focuses on joint beamforming design and optimization for RIS-aided hybrid satellite-terrestrial relay networks. By smartly coordinating the passive elements' phase shifts at the RIS, the desired satellite signals at the blocked users can be strengthened. An alternating optimization scheme is proposed to minimize the transmit power of both the satellite and base station while guaranteeing the rate requirements of users.

Energy-Efficient Design for IRS-Empowered Uplink MIMO-NOMA Systems

Gen Li et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the application of intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) in an uplink multiple-input multiple-output non-orthogonal multiple access system to enhance energy efficiency. A joint optimization of active beamforming at the base station, passive beamforming at the IRS, and power allocation is proposed, which is solved using an iterative method. A low-complexity user ordering method is also provided. Numerical results demonstrate the convergence of the optimization scheme and the effectiveness of the user ordering.
