Employee involvement for continuous improvement and production repetitiveness: a contingency perspective for achieving organisational outcomes

Andrea Roberto Beraldin et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the direct and indirect effects of employee involvement for continuous improvement on organizational outcomes, as well as the moderation of production repetitiveness on these effects. Survey data analyses indicate that employee involvement has a significant indirect effect on organizational outcomes through JIT and TQM, which is not moderated by production repetitiveness. However, lowering production repetitiveness decreases the direct impact of employee involvement.

Industry 4.0: a review and analysis of contingency and performance effects

Levente Szasz et al.

Summary: This study, based on a large-scale survey of 705 manufacturing plants from 22 countries, finds that implementing Industry 4.0 technologies has a positive impact on operational performance, including cost, quality, delivery, and flexibility. The research also suggests that the size of firms, competitiveness of countries, and multinational status can affect the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies differently.

Industry 4.0 technologies usage: motives and enablers

Tomaz Cater et al.

Summary: The study found that companies are proactively approaching Industry 4.0 technologies, with only efficiency motives and expected competitive advantage having a positive impact on the intention to use such technologies. External legitimacy-based motives did not play a significant role. Additionally, employee competency positively moderates the relationship between intention and actual use, while finance availability negatively moderates this relationship.
