Toward the Threshold of Radiation Hazards of U in Chinese Coal through the CART Algorithm

Na Xu et al.

Summary: Combustion of coal produces coal combustion residues (CCRs) that contain naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs), which can be harmful to humans. The activity of CCRs depends on both the concentrations of radionuclides and the variations in coal ash yields. Therefore, determining threshold values for radionuclides in coal with different ash yield levels is significant.

A theoretical study on sensing properties of in-doped ZnO nanosheet toward acetylene

Peilong Xu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that indium doping can significantly enhance the sensitivity and selectivity of ZnO nanosheets to acetylene gas. The adsorption energy of acetylene increases significantly after indium doping, with the interaction mainly attributed to electrostatic forces. The indium-doped ZnO nanosheets can selectively detect acetylene in the presence of other gases and exhibit a short recovery time.

Three-dimensional numerical investigation of mixed-mode debonding of FRP-concrete interface using a cohesive zone model

Wei Zhang et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the mixed-mode debonding behavior of the FRP-concrete interface using a 3D cohesive zone model, providing a detailed description of interfacial damage propagation and friction-sliding evolution. Numerical models based on the proposed model are built and compared with experimental results, showing good agreement. The study also investigates the impact of key parameters such as peeling angle, strength ratio, energy ratio, and friction coefficient on the interfacial bond capacity.

Design and Screening of New Lead Compounds for Autism Based on QSAR Model and Molecular Docking Studies

Yongjian Chen et al.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to develop a predictive model for the pro-social and pro-cognitive effects of azinesulfonamides of cyclic amine derivatives as potential antipsychotics. Through comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA), a 3D-QSAR study was conducted on a series of these derivatives. The best statistical model was obtained and new structures were designed based on the model contour maps and the highest activity structure. The docking results demonstrated a strong binding of the selected compound with the protein. The contour map analysis of the QSAR model can provide guidelines for discovering novel potential antipsychotics.

COMPARISON OF FLY ASH, PVA FIBER, MGO AND SHRINKAGE-REDUCING ADMIXTURE ON THE FROST RESISTANCE OF FACE SLAB CONCRETE VIA PORE STRUCTURAL AND FRACTAL ANALYSIS

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the improvement of frost resistance of face slab concrete by adding fly ash, fiber, MgO, and shrinkage-reducing admixtures. The results suggest that the combination of PVA fiber and fly ash enhances compressive strength and tensile capacity, while MgO and SRA have a negative impact on the mechanical properties of concrete. Additionally, the frost resistance of concrete is closely related to air void parameters, pore structures, and Ds values.

Virginia Venezia et al.

Summary: In this study, humic acid was utilized as a flame retardant additive, showcasing the waste-to-wealth approach. The presence of silicon-modified epoxy chains improved the distribution of biowaste within the resin, achieving a UL 94-V-0 classification for the epoxy resin with 6% HA. Furthermore, the addition of APP and UR significantly reduced peak heat release rate and delayed ignition, contributing to the enhancement of fire performance in the hybrid epoxy system.
