Methods for preparation of niosomes: A focus on thin-film hydration method

Yasmeena Thabet et al.

Summary: The development of nanocarriers has opened up new possibilities for drug delivery with improved targeting and reduced side effects. Niosomes, a type of non-ionic vesicles, have gained significant attention in biomedical applications due to their unique characteristics and ability to encapsulate hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs. Different methods for preparing niosomes have been described, each impacting the size and characteristics of the resulting niosomes.

Quercetin-loaded niosomal nanoparticles prepared by the thin-layer hydration method: Formulation development, colloidal stability, and structural properties

Razieh Javani et al.

Summary: Quercetin-loaded nano-niosomes were successfully prepared using thin-layer hydration method, with the particle size and distribution being adjustable through sonication and different additives. Niosomes stabilized with Tween 60/Span 60 exhibited higher encapsulation efficiency, and showed no significant changes in EE and particle size after 30 days of cold storage, indicating potential stability for use in food and pharma formulations.
