Association of hepatitis C infection and risk of kidney cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies

Di Wu et al.

Summary: This study found that patients infected with HCV have a 47% higher risk of developing kidney cancer. Factors such as study design, age, sample size, and HIV co-infection significantly affect the risk of kidney cancer in HCV patients, highlighting the need for improved renal surveillance in this population. Further investigations into the mechanisms underlying HCV-induced kidney cancer are warranted.
