Primary cardiac sarcomas: Treatment strategies

Edward Y. Chan et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the surgical outcomes of 122 patients with primary cardiac sarcoma. The results showed that the survival rate of cardiac sarcoma patients gradually decreased within 5 years, and there was no significant difference in mortality between different time periods. This suggests that cardiac sarcoma is a systemic disease, and current treatment methods have not significantly improved patient survival.

Outcomes of Octogenarians with Primary Malignant Cardiac Tumors: National Cancer Database Analysis

Mohamed Rahouma et al.

Summary: This study analyzed mortality differences among different age groups of patients with PMCTs and found that with increasing age, patients had a higher comorbidity burden, received more conservative treatment, and experienced progressively declining early and late survival outcomes.

Survival outcomes in patients with primary cardiac sarcoma in the United States

Kanhua Yin et al.

Summary: The study evaluated survival outcomes of primary cardiac sarcoma in a US nationwide cancer database. It found that overall survival for patients with primary cardiac sarcoma is poor, with surgery and chemotherapy associated with improved survival. Increasing age at diagnosis was linked to worse survival outcomes.

Long-term outcomes of primary cardiac malignant tumors: Difference between African American and Caucasian population

Quoc Bui et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the survival outcomes of primary cardiac malignant tumors (PMCTs) among African American and Caucasian populations. Although survival rates improved over time for African American patients, overall there were no significant racial differences in survival outcomes. Age at diagnosis, tumor type, disease stage, and chemotherapy were identified as key predictors of survival outcomes.

Persistent Disparity: Socioeconomic Deprivation and Cancer Outcomes in Patients Treated in Clinical Trials

Joseph M. Unger et al.

Summary: Patients with cancer from socioeconomically disadvantaged areas participating in clinical trials have worse survival outcomes, with higher area-level socioeconomic deprivation associated with poorer overall, progression-free, and cancer-specific survival. The etiology of this disparity may be related to reduced access to supportive care or post-protocol therapy and/or differences in health status not reflected by protocol selection criteria.

Temporal trends and socioeconomic differences in treatment and mortality following a diagnosis of aortic stenosis

Lene von Kappelgaard et al.

Summary: The study found that since 2000, the risk of receiving AVR within the first year after diagnosis of aortic stenosis has decreased, but the mortality risk for patients not receiving AVR has also decreased. Patients with lower educational levels have higher risks in AVR treatment rate, mortality rate after AVR, and mortality rate in patients not receiving AVR.
