Risk factors and predictors for tumor site origin in metastatic adenocarcinoma of unknown primary site

Xinrong Li et al.

Summary: By reviewing a large number of cases of MACUP patients and establishing prediction models, it was found that the digestive system, respiratory system, and female breast are the most common primary sites of MACUP, and different sites are significantly associated with metastasis environment and survival rate. Logistic regression models have high predictive accuracy, and decision curve analysis and clinical impact curves demonstrate clinical effectiveness.

Cancer of Unknown Primary Presenting as Bone-Predominant or Lymph Node-Only Disease: A Clinicopathologic Portrait

Ryan W. Huey et al.

Summary: Cancer of unknown primary (CUP) rarely presents as bone-predominant (BCUP) or lymph node-only (LNCUP) disease. BCUP patients often have issues with fractures and pain, receiving radiation as a common treatment. The median overall survival of BCUP was 14.5 months, similar to a larger CUP comparison cohort, while LNCUP patients had a longer overall survival at 32.6 months, especially in those without disseminated disease. Poor-risk Culine group and high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio were associated with worse survival. Tips regarding diagnosis and management of these rare malignant subsets are provided.

Development and validation of a nomogram for predicting overall survival of patients with cancer of unknown primary: a real-world data analysis

Yizi Jin et al.

Summary: A nomogram was developed based on a real-world population analysis to predict the survival of patients with Cancer of unknown primary (CUP). It includes factors such as sex, age, histological type, treatment methods, etc., showing good predictive ability. However, further validation in external cohorts is needed due to the lack of data on important clinical factors.

Development and Validation of a Novel Nomogram for Individualized Prediction of Survival in Cancer of Unknown Primary

Kanwal Raghav et al.

Summary: A nomogram was established to predict overall survival in cancer of unknown primary (CUP) based on robust dinicopathologic prognostic factors using data from 521 patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The model showed high predictive accuracy and discriminatory performance, surpassing existing prognostic models, and was validated externally.

The Clinical Characteristics and Prognostic Nomogram for Head and Neck Cancer Patients with Bone Metastasis

Changxing Chi et al.

Summary: This study developed and validated a nomogram to predict overall survival in HNC patients with bone metastasis. Factors such as age, primary site, lung metastasis, and chemotherapy were identified as independent prognostic factors. The nomogram showed high accuracy and utility for survival estimation and individualized treatment decisions.

Redefining cancer of unknown primary: Is precision medicine really shifting the paradigm?

Timothee Olivier et al.

Summary: Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP) represents 2 to 5% of new cancers and presents significant oncological challenges. Despite efforts in precision oncology and molecular analysis, patient outcomes have seen minimal improvement. The biology of CUP remains a complex and unresolved issue, with a lack of true biological signature and effective treatment strategies.
