Early onset colorectal cancer: Challenges across the cancer care continuum

Adhari AlZaabi et al.

Summary: The incidence of early onset colorectal cancer is increasing rapidly, but patients are not receiving enough attention. Despite its unique molecular pattern, current management and screening guidelines are based on late onset colorectal cancer. Therefore, more research is needed to understand this disease and develop personalized prevention, detection, and management plans.

A Comprehensive Comparison of Early-Onset and Average-Onset Colorectal Cancers

Andrea Cercek et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with early-onset colorectal cancer are more likely to have left-sided tumors, present with rectal bleeding and abdominal pain, but are otherwise clinically and genomically indistinguishable from average-onset colorectal cancer. Aggressive treatment regimens based solely on the age at colorectal cancer diagnosis are not warranted.

Mesnad Alyabsi et al.

Summary: The study revealed a rising trend in early-onset colorectal cancer incidence rates in Saudi Arabia, particularly among women aged 40-49, indicating a need for further research on the etiology and increased awareness among primary healthcare providers.
