Preoperative Apparent Diffusion Coefficient Values for Differentiation between Low and High Grade Meningiomas: An Updated Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Yueh-Ting Tsai et al.

Summary: This meta-analysis compared the preoperative apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values between low-grade meningiomas (LGMs) and high-grade meningiomas (HGMs). The results showed significantly lower ADC values in HGMs compared to LGMs. Additionally, ADC values could differentiate different histological types of LGMs and had correlations with Ki-67 index.

Value of DWI Combined with Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy in the Differential Diagnosis between Recurrent Glioma and Radiation Injury: A Meta-Analysis

Summary: This meta-analysis revealed that the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC), choline (Cho)/creatine (Cr) ratio, and Cho/N-acetyl-aspartate (NAA) ratio in diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) have high sensitivity and specificity for differentiating recurrent glioma from radiation injury.

Single brain metastasis versus glioblastoma multiforme: a VOI-based multiparametric analysis for differential diagnosis

Andrea Romano et al.

Summary: The authors aimed to develop a multiparametric MRI model for distinguishing between glioblastoma and solitary brain metastasis. Results showed that lower ADC values in the enhancing tumor, higher percentage of SR in perfusion curves, and higher rCBV values in the perilesional edema indicated a higher likelihood of glioblastoma.ROC analysis demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity for differentiating between the two types of brain tumors.

Summary: Evaluation of CNS focal lesions usually focuses on solid or enhancing components. Peripherally enhancing lesions, including HGG and metastasis, present challenges in differential diagnosis. Advanced MRI sequences like DWI, DTI, PWI, and MRS have shown promising results in characterizing these lesions. Advanced approaches such as ASL, DKI, T2 relaxometry, and APT are also being explored for better evaluation of these lesions.
