Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries

Hyuna Sung et al.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Clinical and Histological Basis of Adenosquamous Carcinoma of the Pancreas: A 30-year Experience

Maitham A. Moslim et al.

Summary: Adenosquamous carcinoma (ASC) of the pancreas is a rare and aggressive malignancy that mainly affects women with a median age of 73 years. Most cases present with tumors in the head of the pancreas, show a wide range of clinical manifestations, and are primarily treated with oncological resection.

Use of ring-enhancement and focal necrosis to differentiate pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma from pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma on CT and MRI

Khoschy Schawkat et al.

Summary: The study assessed the ability of ring-enhancing sign and focal necrosis to diagnose ASqC on MRI and CT. Results showed that MRI displayed ring enhancement in ASqC with higher reader confidence compared to CT and FN in ASqC with greater inter-reader agreement. The concurrent presence of these two imaging features should raise high suspicion for ASqC.
