Early Postoperative Parathormone and Calcium as Prognostic Factors for Postoperative Hypocalcemia
Anna Daskalaki et al.
Summary: This study aimed to investigate whether early post-surgery PTH and calcium levels can be used for the early identification of patients at risk for symptomatic hypocalcemia. The results showed that 4-hour calcium levels and the 4-h/pre-surgery PTH ratio were good indicators. These findings may have important implications for clinical practice in post-thyroidectomy patients.
