Relationship between social anxiety and coping profile in adults who stutter

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between the severity of stuttering, social anxiety, and coping strategies in adults who stutter (AWS). Results showed that AWS and high social-anxiety groups tended to adopt non-adaptive coping strategies, suggesting that the coping profile of AWS may contribute to the cycle of social anxiety and stuttering.

This study aimed to identify differences between Turkish-speaking children and adolescents who stutter and typically developing peers in emotional and behavioral problems. The findings suggest that children who stutter exhibit higher levels of emotional reactivity, anxiety/depression, social problems, attention problems, and aggressive behavior compared to typically developing peers.
