Surgical outcomes of dual-plate fixation for periprosthetic femur fractures around a stable hip arthroplasty stem

Jeremy F. Kubik et al.

Summary: This study investigated the clinical and radiographic outcomes of dual-plated periprosthetic femur fractures around stable hip stems. Dual-plating achieved high union rates with an acceptable complication profile for the treatment of periprosthetic femur fractures surrounding a stable hip arthroplasty stem. Additional prospective research is required to confirm the results of this study.

Plate augmentation and bone grafting in treatment of femoral shaft nonunion initially fixed by intramedullary nail

Mohamed A. Mohamed et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcomes of plate augmentation and bone grafting without nail removal in the treatment of nonunited femoral shaft fractures. The results showed that this method provides a good and safe treatment option for previously nailed and nonunited fractures.

Quantitative bone single-photon emission computed tomography imaging for uninfected nonunion: comparison of hypertrophic nonunion and non-hypertrophic nonunion

Keisuke Oe et al.

Summary: The study used SUV values from bone SPECT images to quantitatively evaluate the biological activity of nonunions, and found that SUVmax, SUVpeak, and SUVmean control ratios can be used to assess treatment decisions, especially the necessity of autologous bone grafting.
