Circulating miR-143 and miR-145 as promising biomarkers for evaluating severity of coronary artery stenosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome

Linlin Meng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the expression of plasma miR-143 and miR-145 in patients with ACS and their association with the severity of coronary artery stenosis. The results show that plasma levels of miR-143 and miR-145 are significantly decreased in ACS patients and negatively correlated with coronary stenosis. Thus, plasma levels of miR-143 and miR-145 can be used as noninvasive biomarkers for evaluating coronary artery stenosis.

Inflammatory and Prothrombotic Biomarkers, DNA Polymorphisms, MicroRNAs and Personalized Medicine for Patients with Peripheral Arterial Disease

Pavel Poredos et al.

Summary: Classical risk factors play a significant role in the initiation and development of atherosclerosis, but relying solely on these factors for cardiovascular risk assessment is often insufficient. Biomarkers, such as inflammatory markers and prothrombotic markers, have been identified to indicate the presence and progression of atherosclerosis. Genetic polymorphisms and miRNAs also contribute to the risk and prediction of PAD. Considering an individual's predisposition to PAD and circulating biomarkers holds promise for more accurate prediction models and personalized treatment options.
