Enhanced activity and stability of MgO-promoted Ni/Al2O3 catalyst for dry reforming of methane: Role of MgO

Baitang Jin et al.

Summary: The study deposited highly dispersed nickel nanoparticles on aluminum oxide using atomic layer deposition, and found that the addition of MgO increased the basicity of catalyst surfaces, assisting CO2 adsorption and activation. Although the formation of NiO-MgO solid solution did not improve overall reducibility, the interaction between reduced Ni nanoparticles and MgO inhibited sintering and provided sufficient metal-support interface for CO2 activation, leading to higher methane reforming rates.

Tailoring the stability of Ni-Fe/mayenite in methane - Carbon dioxide reforming

Ruifeng Peng et al.

Summary: The study investigates the improvement of dry reforming of methane activity and stability by modifying the metal load of the catalyst and using mayenite as a support material. Introduction of Fe can effectively suppress coking, while mayenite as support enhances the transfer of oxygen species to promote oxidation of carbon species. Through synergistic effects of mayenite support and Fe promotion, high CH4-CO2 conversion and excellent stability can be achieved for the Ni-xFe/Ca12Al14O33 catalysts.

Methane dry reforming over mesoporous La2O3 supported Ni catalyst for syngas production

Junwei Song et al.

Summary: In this study, highly active methane dry reforming (DRM) catalysts with superior coke-resistance were obtained by employing a nanocasting method to synthesize mesoporous La2O3 support using KIT-6 as a hard-template. The La2O3-KIT-6 support exhibited a high specific surface area and well-formed mesoporous structure, leading to a highly dispersed Ni active sites and enlarged interfaces between La2O2CO3 and Ni. This facilitated the reaction between coke and La2O2CO3 species, keeping the Ni sites more clean and active.
