Improving the Analytical Performances of the Ibuprofen Voltammetric Determination at Bare Graphite Electrode Using Semi-Derivative Linear Sweep Voltammetry

Summary: In this study, a bare graphite electrode was used for the simple and cost-effective determination of ibuprofen. The signal obtained by linear sweep voltammetry was processed using semi-derivative analysis, leading to improved analytical performance and enhanced sensitivity. The method showed linear response to ibuprofen concentrations in two ranges and had a low detection limit. It was successfully applied to determine ibuprofen in pharmaceutical formulations, with satisfactory recovery values and good selectivity and reproducibility.

The pencil graphite electrode (PGE) has gained increasing interest in recent years due to its inherent electrochemical and economic advantages. This paper reviews scientific reports published in the last 10 years on the electroanalysis of pharmaceutical compounds using disposable eco- and user-friendly PGEs in different matrices, discussing their characteristics, designs, applications, and performance parameters, emphasizing their advantages and limitations.
