Internal doping of metallic carbon nanotubes for chemiresistive sensing of explosive molecules

Manasi Doshi et al.

Summary: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been widely studied for chemical sensing applications, but their use in hazardous gas sensing has been limited by several issues. By incorporating metallic CNTs internally doped with encapsulated species, these problems may be addressed. This new sensor design offers improved selectivity, reversibility, temperature stability, and sensitivity to a range of analytes. Ab initio analysis suggests that internally doped metallic CNT sensor arrays can greatly enhance the performance of CNT-based gas sensors.

A high-performance room temperature benzene gas sensor based on CoTiO3 covered TiO2 nanospheres decorated with Pd nanoparticles

Dongyue Wang et al.

Summary: This paper reports a benzene sensor based on Pd-doped CoTiO3/TiO2 nanocomposite, with improved gas sensing performance. The sensor demonstrated remarkable benzene sensing properties, attributed to the formation of CoTiO3/TiO2 p-n heterojunction and catalytic action of Pd. The unique advantage of Pd-CTT nanocomposite for benzene sensing was highlighted in this work.

Summary: Fatigue design of engineering structures is often done based on cumulative damage law, with Miner's linear damage rule being the standard despite known deficiencies. Nonlinear cumulative damage models and life prediction models have been developed to address these deficiencies, but have not been widely accepted.

Spin current distribution in antiferromagnetic zigzag graphene nanoribbons under transverse electric fields

Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: Research has focused on the spin current transmission properties of narrow zigzag graphene nanoribbons (zGNRs), exploring methods such as doping, functionalization, edge modification, and external electric fields for spin current control. Recent studies have shown that narrow antiferromagnetic zGNRs exhibit distinct current transmission characteristics compared to their ferromagnetic counterparts, with effects such as negative differential resistance and spatially periodic electron transport structures.

Explosive molecule sensing at lattice defect sites in metallic carbon nanotubes

Manasi Doshi et al.

Summary: Experimental research using carbon nanotube (CNT) based sensors for explosives and hazardous gas sensing has shown that arrays of CNT sensors incorporating substitutional doping or structural flaws can improve selectivity. These arrays can effectively distinguish explosive molecules from common background gases by capitalizing on the nonlinear current-voltage characteristics of the CNTs.
