A Bifunctional Chemomechanics Strategy To Suppress Electrochemo-Mechanical Failure of Ni-Rich Cathodes for All-Solid-State Lithium Batteries

Xingwei Sun et al.

Summary: This study proposes a bifunctional chemomechanics strategy by coating a layer of LiZr2(PO4)(3) on the surface of LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode, effectively solving the problem of Ni-rich cathode in all-solid-state lithium batteries. The coating layer with excellent mechanical strength and electrochemical stability reduces the volume change and particle disintegration of the cathode, resulting in improved reversible capacity, cycle life, and rate performance of the batteries.
