Influence of abiotic factors on phytochemical diversity of Anacardium occidentale L.

Adrielle Rodrigues Costa et al.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of environmental factors on the metabolic diversity of phytochemical compounds from extracts of leaves and bark of Anacardium occidentale. The results showed differences in physicochemical properties of the soils in the two collection areas and identified various phytochemical compounds in the extracts.

Phenolic profiles and antioxidant activities of free, esterified and bound phenolic compounds in walnut kernel

Shutian Wu et al.

Summary: The majority of phenolic compounds in walnut kernels exist in the free form, showing high radical scavenging activity. There is a strong correlation between the antioxidant activities of phenolics and their contents. Acetone is effective for extracting soluble phenolics, while methanol is better for extracting insoluble bound phenolics.

Antibacterial plant compounds, extracts and essential oils: An updated review on their effects and putative mechanisms of action

F. J. Alvarez-Martinez et al.

Summary: Plant-derived antimicrobial compounds have shown promising potential in combating bacterial resistance, with polyphenols and terpenes being the most active compounds and plasma membrane disruption as the common mechanism of action. Combinations with beta-lactam antibiotics have been the focus of research in recent years.
