Estimating of Non-Darcy Flow Coefficient in Artificial Porous Media

Abadelhalim Elsanoose et al.

Summary: This study conducted a radial flow experiment to investigate the existence of non-Darcy flow and calculate the non-Darcy inertia coefficient. The experiments were performed on seven cylindrical perforated artificial porous media samples, and it was found that the non-Darcy flow exists even at very low flow rates. Additionally, the study revealed that the non-Darcy effect is not only caused by turbulence but also by inertial effects.

Study on Stress Sensitivity of Ultra-Low Permeability Sandstone Reservoir Considering Starting Pressure Gradient

Xiang Luo et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of nonlinear seepage on water flooding development of ultra-low permeability reservoirs. Conventional reservoir numerical simulation methods are not suitable for accurately characterizing the nonlinear seepage state of these reservoirs. Field developments and tests show the presence of starting pressure gradients and stress sensitivity effects in ultra-low permeability sandstone reservoirs. The study utilizes a novel numerical simulation software tNavigator and the rock displacement vector to characterize the stress-sensitive effect of the reservoir. The impact of stress-sensitive effects on oil well productivity is systematically studied, taking into account the starting pressure gradient and petrophysical properties. The results demonstrate the improvement of stress sensitivity with the existence of the starting pressure gradient. The study also conducts a numerical simulation in a specific area and accurately predicts the reservoir stress sensitivity based on the starting pressure gradient. Considering both the starting pressure gradient and stress sensitivity leads to a decrease in crude oil recovery degree.

The Influence of Movable Water on the Gas-Phase Threshold Pressure Gradient in Tight Gas Reservoirs

Weiyao Zhu et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of movable water saturation on the threshold pressure gradient (TPG) in tight gas reservoirs. The results show that TPG increases with the increase of movable water saturation, and a semi-empirical model is derived to describe the correlation between TPG, movable water saturation, and permeability.

Experimental Investigation of Pore Characteristics and Permeability in Coal-Measure Sandstones in Jixi Basin, China

Huazhou Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the pore and permeability characteristics of tight sandstone reservoirs in coal-measure using low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR) data. The results show that these reservoirs have low total porosity, low effective porosity, and low permeability, which are significantly influenced by grain size and effective stress.

Prediction of gas production potential based on machine learning in shale gas field: a case study

Shuo Zhai et al.

Summary: This study shows that machine learning methods can effectively predict the productivity of shale gas wells and accurately reflect the nonlinear relationship between influencing factors. The support vector machine regression model performs well in shale gas well productivity prediction, achieving high accuracy and providing guidance for predictions of other gas well productivity.

Stress sensitivity of formation during multi-cycle gas injection and production in an underground gas storage rebuilt from gas reservoirs

Li Jiqiang et al.

Summary: The stress sensitivity of permeability in UGS reservoirs can significantly affect gas well injectivity and productivity, especially in the first few cycles. As the cycle number increases, the stress sensitivity index of permeability changes with the net stress variations in both the increase and decrease processes.
