Associated factors of stigma toward people with mental illness among university and school students

Summary: This study aimed to explore the associated factors of stigma towards people with mental illness among Omani school and university students. The results showed that male students, those with highly educated mothers, have high monthly income, higher mental health knowledge, employed fathers, and received focused education on mental illness showed fewer stigmatizing attitudes. Enhancing the knowledge about mental illness among school and university students and their families can play a significant role in reversing stigma.

Knowledge and attitude toward mental illness among the population at King Faisal University, Saudi Arabia

Summary: This study investigated the perceptions and attitudes of 1,355 participants from King Faisal University in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, towards the aetiology of mental illness and patients with mental illness. The results showed that most participants had adequate knowledge of mental disorder aetiology and held some positive attitudes towards mental illnesses. Additionally, gender, residence, and marital status were found to be significant factors influencing attitude scores.
