Glutathione and ethylene biosynthesis reveal that the glume and lemma have better tolerance to water deficit in wheat

Wen Luo et al.

Summary: The study found that under water deficit conditions, spike bracts in wheat exhibit more stable chlorophyll content and photosynthetic parameters during the late grain-filling stages, while the activity of key enzymes involved in ethylene synthesis is also affected. These results contribute to a better understanding of the regulatory senescence response mechanisms of cysteine interaction with ethylene in wheat under drought stress conditions.

Regulation of wound ethylene biosynthesis by NAC transcription factors in kiwifruit

Niels J. Nieuwenhuizen et al.

Summary: In kiwifruit, the transcriptional regulation of ethylene biosynthesis is different between leaves and fruit after mechanical wounding. Ethylene biosynthesis in fruit is accompanied by transcriptional increases in ACS, ACO, and NAC TFs, while in kiwifruit leaves, wound-specific transcriptional increases are largely absent, suggesting post-transcriptional control mechanisms are more important. The NAC TFs AcNAC2-4 regulate both system-1 and -2 ethylene biosynthesis in fruit through control of AcACS1 expression levels, but not in leaves where post-transcriptional/translational regulatory mechanisms may prevail.

Genome-Wide Identification and Functional Investigation of 1-Aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic Acid Oxidase (ACO) Genes in Cotton

Hengling Wei et al.

Summary: This study identified ACO genes in cotton and revealed their distribution and regulatory mechanisms, suggesting their crucial roles in plant growth, development, and stress responses. The findings not only lay a foundation for functional studies of cotton ACO genes but also provide references for genetic improvement and stress resistance breeding in the future.
