Characterization and immunomodulatory effect of an alkali-extracted galactomannan from Morchella esculenta

Nan-Nan Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel polysaccharide, FMP-2, was isolated and purified from the fruiting bodies of Morchella esculenta using alkali-assisted extraction. FMP-2 exhibited immunomodulatory effects, stimulating phagocytosis and the secretion of cytokines. It also showed a repairing effect on immune injury. These findings suggest that FMP-2 has potential applications as an immunomodulator in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Polysaccharide fraction from greens of Raphanus sativus alleviates high fat diet-induced obesity

Moon Ho Do et al.

Summary: In high fat diet-induced obese mice, the polysaccharide fraction of radish greens showed anti-obesity activity by reducing weight gain and body fat percentage. This effect was achieved through improving gut barrier function, modulating gut microbiota, and regulating lipid metabolism.

Gut microbiota in obesity

Bing-Nan Liu et al.

Summary: Obesity is a major global health issue affected by genetics and environment, with increasing evidence linking it to gut microbiota. Gut microbiota management has emerged as a new approach for obesity treatment, but the complex interactions among genetics, environment, microbiota, and obesity are still not well-understood. The review summarizes the characteristics of gut microbiota in obesity, the mechanisms linking gut microbiota to obesity, and the impact of genetic and environmental factors, providing insight into the complex relationship between obesity and microbiota, as well as proposing the future of gut microbiota-related obesity research.
