A Metabolic Pattern in Healthy Subjects Given a Single Dose of Metformin: A Metabolomics Approach

Lina A. Dahabiyeh et al.

Summary: Metformin, widely prescribed for type 2 diabetes, has diverse effects on various disorders. A metabolomics study on healthy subjects revealed perturbed levels of 111 metabolites, with branched-chain amino acids being significantly altered. 63 metabolites showed changes dependent on metformin levels, among which 36 were significantly altered by metformin.
