Anti-Fatigue and Exercise Performance Improvement Effect of Glossogyne tenuifolia Extract in Mice

Yi-Ju Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigated the efficacy of GT extract, a native perennial plant in Taiwan, in ameliorating physical fatigue during exercise and increasing exercise performance. The results showed that GT extract supplementation significantly improved forelimb grip strength and endurance swimming time in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, GT extract increased serum glucose, creatine kinase, and lactate levels, while liver marker serum glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) was increased and renal markers were not affected. Muscle and hepatic glycogen levels were also significantly increased, indicating an improved energy source during exercise. No histological aberrations were observed in vital organs. These findings suggest that GT extract supplementation could benefit exercise performance and anti-fatigue function without toxicity at higher doses.

Exercise-Linked Skeletal Irisin Ameliorates Diabetes Associated Osteoporosis by Inhibiting the Oxidative Damage-Dependent miR-150-FNDC5/Pyroptosis Axis

Jyotirmaya Behera et al.

Summary: Recent evidence suggests that physical exercise has a positive impact on skeletal development and can protect against bone loss and deterioration. This study investigated the effects of exercise on bone mass and mechanical quality in mice with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The results showed that diabetes leads to a decrease in Irisin, which further contributes to bone loss through inflammation. Exercise, along with certain interventions, can restore Irisin levels and improve bone formation in diabetic mice. This study demonstrates that exercise-induced skeletal Irisin can ameliorate diabetes-associated glucose intolerance and bone loss.

Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM): Spatial-temporal Patterns of Incidence, Mortality and Attributable Risk Factors from 1990 to 2019 among 21 World Regions

Mehak Nanda et al.

Summary: This study examines the temporal patterns and burden of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) globally, regionally, and nationally over the past three decades. The results show a significant increase in the incident cases, deaths, and prevalence of T2DM worldwide, particularly in low and middle-income countries and regions. High body-mass-index, ambient particulate matter pollution, smoking, and secondhand smoke were identified as major contributing risk factors. The findings highlight the urgent need for targeted policies focused on lifestyle interventions, air pollution control, and timely treatment to address the global burden of T2DM.

Voluntary Wheel Running Partially Compensates for the Effects of Global Estrogen Receptor-α Knockout on Cortical Bone in Young Male Mice

Rebecca K. Dirkes et al.

Summary: The study found that in male mice, ERKO has a positive impact on bone density, with exercise having little effect. ERKO has a negative impact on cortical geometry, but exercise can partially reverse this effect. Neither ERKO nor exercise have an effect on sclerostin expression.

Exercise improves bone formation by upregulating the Wnt3a/β-catenin signalling pathway in type 2 diabetic mice

Xianghe Chen et al.

Summary: Exercise can effectively improve bone formation and metabolism in T2DM mice, with downhill running activating the Wnt3a/beta-catenin pathway to enhance osteogenic capacity and improve bone morphology. Inhibition of the Wnt3a/beta-catenin pathway in the bones of T2DM mice leads to reduced bone formation ability and degradation of bone tissue structure.

Serum exosomes from young rats improve the reduced osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs in aged rats with osteoporosis after fatigue loading in vivo

Jingqiong Xun et al.

Summary: The study found that bone microdamage increased in aged osteoporotic rats after fatigue loading, and the osteogenic differentiation ability of bone mesenchymal stem cells decreased. However, treatment with serum exosomes from young rats highly expressing miRNA-19b-3p was able to improve this decreased osteogenic differentiation ability.

Summary: The experimental study demonstrated that resistance exercise combined with vitamin D and calcium has a positive effect on bone mineral density and content in postmenopausal rats, potentially preventing or delaying osteoporosis in elderly women. Further research is needed to explore the molecular pathways of this process.
