Genomic stratification and differential natural selection signatures among human norovirus genogroup II isolates

Sehrish Kakakhel et al.

Summary: Noroviruses (NoVs) are a common cause of gastroenteritis in humans, with GII genogroup being the most prevalent and causing serious infections worldwide. Genetic analysis showed significant genetic distinction between GII.4 and non-GII.4 samples. Phylogenetic analysis revealed distinct subclades within GII.2 and GII.4 genotypes. Demographic analysis indicated an increase in the effective population size of NoV GII during 2009-2010, followed by a rapid decline in 2015.

Global Patterns of Recombination across Human Viruses

Juan Angel Patino-Galindo et al.

Summary: Recombination plays a significant role in driving viral evolution and adaptation, with differences in recombination rates observed among viruses infecting humans. Positive single-stranded RNA viruses exhibit higher recombination frequencies, while an inverse correlation is found between genome length and recombination rate across multiple viruses.

Molecular Epidemiology of Novirhabdoviruses Emerging in Iranian Trout Farms

Sohrab Ahmadivand et al.

Summary: Novirhabdoviruses, specifically VHSV and IHNV, were found to cause large epizootics and economic losses in farmed trout in Iran. The study confirmed the presence of 9 VHSV and 4 IHNV isolates in various regions of Iran, with genetic analysis indicating their origin from Europe possibly through imported eggs.
