Digital mediation of candidacy in maternity care: Managing boundaries between physiology and pathology

Nicola Mackintosh et al.

Summary: This study brings together scholarship from various disciplines to explore the intersection of digital health and the maternity care system, specifically focusing on women's experiences with different forms of digital support in their reproductive journeys. The proposed integrated revised conceptual framework highlights the intersections between digital and care practices, as well as the micro-level negotiations between women and professionals in the maternal health context. This synthesis emphasizes digital mediation as a useful filter for understanding care systems, distribution of responsibilities, relational practices, and the (dis)enablement of candidacy.
