Boosting optical and electrical characteristics of polyvinyl alcohol/carboxymethyl cellulose nanocomposites by GNPs/MWCNTs fillers as an application in energy storage devices

Mymona Mohsen Abutalib et al.

Summary: The study focused on manufacturing polyvinyl alcohol and carboxymethyl cellulose films containing graphene nanoplates (GNPs)/MWCNTs to enhance optical, dielectric, and electrical properties. X-ray diffraction analysis highlighted the interaction between blend chains and GNPs/MWCNTs, showing a decrease in semicrystallinity with increasing GNPs/MWCNTs content. Ultraviolet (UV)-vis spectroscopy methods were used to examine the optical characteristics, while the frequency-dependent AC conductivity of the nanocomposites films analyzed the dynamic behavior of ions and revealed improved ionic conductivity with higher GNPs/MWCNTs concentration.

Structure, thermal and dielectric insights of PVC/PVP/ZnFe2O4 polymer nanocomposites

Alhulw H. Alshammari et al.

Summary: In this study, polymer nanocomposite samples were prepared by the solution casting method with nano-zinc ferrite doping. XRD confirmed the cubic crystal structure of ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles with an average size of 15 nm. The addition of ZnFe2O4 to the polymers blend (PVC/PVP) resulted in different absorption bands in the FTIR spectra. Furthermore, the thermal decomposition stages showed a decrease in activation energy, enthalpy, and Gibbs free energy with increasing zinc ferrite concentration. The dielectric data revealed lower values of dielectric constant with higher ZnFe2O4 content in the polymer, and the AC conductivity increased gradually with frequency while DC conductivity values decreased up to 15.0 wt% zinc ferrite concentration.
