Mass fractal dimension from 2D microscopy images via an aggregation model with variable compactness

Giulia Ferri et al.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between fractal dimensions in microscopy images and the mass fractal dimension of colloidal aggregates and agglomerates using a morphological aggregation model. By analyzing scanning transmission electron microscopy images of boehmite colloidal suspensions, the researchers found a correlation between df and dp, and observed a fair agreement with small angle x-ray scattering and literature results under different acid and base concentrations.

A novel physisorption model based on mathematical morphology operators preserving exact pore morphology and connectivity

Adam Hammoumi et al.

Summary: This study presents a simulation approach for complex porous media, allowing for comprehensive analysis of their textural and structural properties. The method utilizes morphological operators to simulate processes such as surface adsorption and pore filling, and uses labeled connected components to simulate fluid percolation and phase transition. Compared to other methods, this approach significantly reduces calculation time and accurately reproduces the adsorption isotherm of realistic random models.

ASAXS study of the influence of sulfidation conditions and organic additives on sulfide slabs multiscale organization

S. Humbert et al.

Summary: Increasing the molybdenum content in sulfide catalysts can improve their activity, with the distribution of MoS2 particles playing a crucial role. Anomalous Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (ASAXS) has been used to analyze the microstructural organization of the molybdenum active phase, revealing the impact of additives and sulfidation conditions on catalytic performance. The study demonstrates the potential of ASAXS in providing detailed insights on the multi-scale organization of the active phase.
