Self-Doping Surface Oxygen Vacancy-Induced Lattice Strains for Enhancing Visible Light-Driven Photocatalytic H2 Evolution over Black TiO2

Jiaqi Gao et al.

Summary: The synergistic effect of surface oxygen vacancy and induced lattice strains on black TiO2 can significantly enhance the photocatalytic H-2 evolution under visible light. The presence of surface oxygen vacancies leads to the formation of a high-energy surface, which improves visible light absorption and enhances the photoinduced charge separation efficiency. Additionally, the induced lattice strains provide a driving force for the directional movement of photoinduced electrons from the bulk to the high-energy surface, resulting in a 12-fold increase in the hydrogen evolution rate.
