Enhancing photocatalytic nitrogen fixation performance of Co-doped bismuth molybdate through band engineering tuning

Summary: Energy band engineering through doping is shown to greatly influence the photocatalytic properties of semiconductors. In this study, a novel Co-doped Bi2MoO6 (Co-BMO) photocatalyst was developed for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation. The Co-BMO with microsphere structure achieved significantly higher NH3 yield and improved separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers due to successful Co2+ doping, leading to enhanced photocatalyst activity.

Adsorption performance and mechanism of Ca-Al-LDHs prepared by oyster shell and pop can for phosphate from aqueous solutions

Summary: The anion exchange properties of layered composite metal hydroxide (LDHs) make it an important material for anion purification in aquatic environments. In this study, waste oyster shells and cans were used to prepare LDHs, and their adsorption capacities for phosphate were compared with LDHs prepared from chemical reagents. The results showed that both the waste group and reagent group materials exhibited similar adsorption capacities. The effects of adsorbent dosage, initial solution pH, and presence of coexisting ions on the adsorption capacity were investigated.

Catalytic photo-redox of simulated air into ammonia over bimetallic MOFs nanosheets with oxygen vacancies

Summary: This study proposes a new pathway for solar-driven conversion of nitrogen to ammonia, and demonstrates the effective synthesis of ammonia using a bimetallic CuCo organic framework ultrathin nanosheets catalyst under visible light. Experimental and theoretical calculations suggest that the transformation of air to ammonia mainly occurs through a redox pathway.

Synergistic iron ion and alkylammonium cation intercalated vanadium oxide cathode for highly efficient aqueous zinc ion battery

Novel platinum-bismuth alloy loaded KTa0.5Nb0.5O3 composite photocatalyst for effective nitrogen-to-ammonium conversion

Summary: A novel heterojunction composite BiPt/KTa0.5Nb0.5O3 (KTN) with optimized Bi and Pt contents was synthesized and showed improved photocatalytic performance in ammonia synthesis compared to pure KTN, 1 %Bi/KTN, and 0.25 %Pt/KTN. The BiPt alloy nanoparticles formed on the surface of KTN nanocubes provided an appropriate Schottky barrier, efficiently capturing and separating photogenerated charge carriers. The loaded BiPt alloy also broadened the material's photoresponse to visible light through surface plasmon resonance, contributing to increased photoactivity. This study not only offered a potential photocatalyst for nitrogen fixation but also proposed new ideas for designing highly efficient catalysts through bimetal alloy modification.

Summary: The incorporation of polyoxometalates (POMs) in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with host-guest structure has been proven as an effective strategy for the rational design of heterogeneous catalysis. In this study, composite catalysts of Keggin-type POM@MIL-101(Cr) (PMo12, PW12, and SiW12) were synthesized for the first time for nitrogen fixation reaction without sacrificial agents at room temperature. The performance of the solvothermal synthesized catalyst was 75.56 lmol·h-1·g-1 Na4SiW12O40, attributed to the synergistic effect of SiW12 and MIL-101(Cr). This work provides a feasible route for designing and synthesizing nanocomposite materials with exceptional performance for photocatalytic nitrogen fixation.

TiO1.8 with lattice H for effective electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation
