Large Cages of Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks

Haoze Wang et al.

Summary: The design and synthesis of permanently porous materials with extended cage structures is a challenging task in chemistry. Zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs), which are framework materials built from interconnected tetrahedral nodes through imidazolate linkers, play a unique role in meeting this challenge. The structures of ZIFs consist of large zeolite-like cages that are covalently connected with neighboring cages and fused in three-dimensional space. These fused cages provide exceptional architectural and chemical stability, allowing the passage of gases and molecules through the cages and facilitating chemical reactions within the cages. The combination of cage chemistry and extended structures in ZIFs results in interconnected yet compartmentalized void spaces, making them highly useful for catalysis, gas storage, and gas separation applications.

Distinct nonlinear optical responses in three pairs of 2D homochiral Ag(I) enantiomers modulated by dicarboxylic acid ligands

Congli Gao et al.

Summary: The study found that Ag(I) enantiomeric pairs prepared using different dicarboxylic acid coligands exhibited varying nonlinear optical responses, with R1/S1 and R2/S2 enantiomers showing strong THG responses, while R3/S3 enantiomers only displayed mild SHG responses. This difference in performance was mainly attributed to the symmetry and degree of pi-conjugation of the dicarboxylate ligands.
