Lateral and Torsional Vibration Monitoring of Multistack Rotor Induction Motors

Mohsen Zafarani et al.

Summary: In this article, the lateral and torsional vibrations in multistack rotor induction motors are modeled in the same framework to analyze the precursors in the current waveform. A lumped mass-spring model is used to calculate natural frequencies and torsional-mode shapes of the mechanical system, while winding function theory is employed to mimic the effects of lateral vibrations on motor inductances. Experimental results are presented and compared with analytical results to validate the modeling approach.

Rotor loss and temperature variation under single and combined faults composed of static air-gap eccentricity and rotor inter-turn short circuit in synchronous generators

Yu-Ling He et al.

Summary: This study investigated rotor loss and temperature variations in synchronous generators caused by static air-gap eccentricity and rotor inter-turn short circuit, exploring their effects individually and combined. It was found that the single RISC fault leads to a higher increase in rotor temperature compared to the single SAGE fault, and the combined faults had the most significant impact on rotor temperature rise.

Impact of Stator Interturn Short Circuit Position on End Winding Vibration in Synchronous Generators

Yu-Ling He et al.

Summary: This article provides a comprehensive analysis on the end winding vibration characteristics in synchronous generators caused by different stator inter-turn short circuit (SISC) positions. The study reveals that SISC can significantly increase the electromagnetic force and amplify radial vibrations, especially at frequencies of 100 Hz, 200 Hz and 300 Hz. It also shows that the closer the short circuit position is to the minimum air-gap point, the more severe the end winding vibration becomes.

Effect of Static Rotor Eccentricity on End Winding Forces and Vibration Wearing

Hong-Chun Jiang et al.

Summary: The study found that vibration wearing is more serious within the same layer of windings, and there is a greater risk of wearing for interphase coils between different layers. Static rotor eccentricity significantly increases electromagnetic forces and vibration amplitudes on certain coils.
