Allele frequency and the associations of HLA-DRB1 and HLA-DQB1 polymorphisms with pemphigus subtypes and disease severity

Thanh Thai Van Le et al.

Summary: This study examined the frequency of HLA-DRB1 and HLA-DQB1 alleles in Vietnamese pemphigus vulgaris (PV) and pemphigus foliaceus (PF) patients, and found that HLA-DRB1*14:54 was the most frequent allele. The distribution of HLA-DQB1 alleles differed between PV and PF patients. HLA-DRB1*04 alleles may be associated with disease severity.
