Atomistic simulations of the local slip resistances in four refractory multi-principal element alloys

Rebecca A. Romero et al.

Summary: This article investigates the slip resistances of dislocations in multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs) and the role of lattice distortion. It is found that MPEAs containing Cr exhibit higher slip resistances and lower anisotropy compared to pure metals.

Review: Multi-principal element alloys by additive manufacturing

Chenze Li et al.

Summary: This article summarizes the application prospects of additive manufacturing (AM) techniques in the fabrication of multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs). It first introduces the existing AM techniques, followed by a discussion of the microstructural features, mechanisms of microstructural evolution, and mechanical properties of AM fabricated MPEAs. Finally, the current challenges and future research directions are summarized to promote the further development and implementation of AM for processing MPEAs for future industrial applications.

A Self-Supported High-Entropy Metallic Glass with a Nanosponge Architecture for Efficient Hydrogen Evolution under Alkaline and Acidic Conditions

Zhe Jia et al.

Summary: A scalable strategy of alloying five equiatomic elements into a high-entropy metallic glass (HEMG) for HER in both alkaline and acidic conditions is proposed, with surface dealloying creating a nanosponge-like architecture offering abundant active sites. Experimental results demonstrate superior performance of this catalyst compared to others currently available. Density functional theory reveals the structural effects of nanocrystals on catalytic activity.
